Personal

Simon grew up in Seattle near Lake Washington watching University of Washington rowers. When he took a break from soccer after seventh grade, he decided to try rowing and fell in love with the sport. After having his freshman year cut short by the pandemic, he decided to take a gap year to work and row on his own. He set a goal of sculling as a lightweight for the national team in 2021. He lists Chris Froome as one of his personal heroes because he always admired his ability to perform under pressure and win year after year. In addition to rowing, Simon enjoys cycling.
