USRowing Presents the Inaugural United We Row Summit

USRowing presents the inaugural United We Row Summit. The summit will run Thursday, November 14 to Friday, November 15. This free and interactive two-day virtual conference is designed to bring rowing leadership and coaches together to network, share ideas, and learn tangible skills on making their boathouses more inclusive.  Topics will include fostering a positive culture, fundraising, understanding bias, and coaching athletes who are neurodiverse.  

With eight different sessions on multiple topics to improve your club or program, there is an opportunity for everyone to learn from some of the best in their field. Keynote Speaker, Taunita V. Stephenson will talk about understanding and navigating inclusion on Thursday November 14 at 11:15 a.m. ET. Stephensen is the Head of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging at the University of Pennsylvania. After her keynote, coaches and rowing leaders can take part in the “Inclusion in Coaching” session lead by Jillian Green Loughran, MPA/MA from The Center for Healing and Justice Through Sport. 

On Friday November 15 at 12:45 p.m. ET, Arshay Cooper, author of A Most Beautiful Thing, and Olympic gold medalist, Justin Best will have a conversation about their experiences in rowing, moderated by USRowing CEO Amanda Kraus. Following their discussion, Evanston High School head coach, Luciana Ruiz,  Waco Rowing Center coach Marqus Brown, and Olympians Nina Castagna and Caragh McMurtry will talk about what inclusion in rowing means to them and the lessons they have learned in their careers.
